A plurality of customers prefers to do their banking online, according to recent survey results released by the American Bankers Association. Thirty-six percent of 1,000 customers surveyed said internet banking is their most preferred method, the second year in a row internet banking came out on top. Results showed that the popularity of online banking was not exclusive to the youngest consumers. It was the preferred banking method for all bank customers under the age of 55. Customers older than 55 still prefer to visit their local branch. Among all consumers, the preference for online banking was followed by visiting branches (25 percent), and using ATMs (15 percent). Mobile banking was cited as a preference by just 3 percent of survey participants.
