Vic: Commuter tells court of alleged digital rape
The Victorian County Court's heard a man apologised to a young woman after he allegedly
digitally raped her on a morning train in Melbourne.
The 22-year-old told the court she was drunk and tired when she arrived at Flinders
Street Station to go home after a night out in inner Melbourne on December 29 2005.
She told the court she passed out after she took a seat on an Upfield-bound train and
woke up feeling someone touching her inappropriately.
She said the man .. who was sitting diagonally across from her .. said he was sorry
.. and she told him it was okay.
However .. she told the court she was upset and knew what had happened was not okay.
During cross-examination by the accused man's barrister CAMPBELL THOMSON .. she agreed
she'd been drinking a lot of alcohol in the 12 hours before the alleged incident.
However .. she denied the digital rape was a figment of her imagination or a nightmare
she had woken up from.
The 55 year old .. whose name has been supressed .. has pleaded not guilty to one count of rape.
The trial before Judge JOE GULLACI continues.
